William Clinton Gillis, 85, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 with burial to follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Gillis was born on August 23, 1931 in Hamlin, TX to the late Clinton and Ollie Mae Gillis. Preceding him in death were his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Donna...

Mr. Gillis was born on August 23, 1931 in Hamlin, TX to the late Clinton and Ollie Mae Gillis. Preceding him in death were his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Donna Gillis; his children Mitzi Gillis of Austin, TX, Suzan and husband Robert Newberry of Abilene, TX, Mari Gillis of San Antonio, TX, Karen and husband David Collins of VanBuren, AR and Mike Gillis of Houston, TX; grandchildren Jason Newberry, Jarod Newberry, Kody Hobbs, Kasey Hobbs, Kevin Hobbs, Julie McDonald, Christopher Collins, Wade Cribbs, Riley Gillis, and many loved great-grandchildren.
William retired from GMAC after 35 years, he then went to work for the city of Abilene retiring after 10 years. William loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and playing golf with family and friends. He also loved attending all activities that involved his children or grandchildren.
We were blessed to have him in our lives.
